🎨 Asteria AI: Where Art Meets Innovation
Founded by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Bryn Mooser, Asteria isn't your typical tech startup. It's a collective of directors, animators, technologists, and VFX artists united by a common goal: to harness AI as a tool that empowers creators, not replaces them. Their mission is clear—develop AI models that are legal, ethical, and, above all, artistically enriching.
At the heart of Asteria's innovation is Marey, a high-definition AI video generation model developed in collaboration with AI research lab Moonvalley. Named after Étienne-Jules Marey, a pioneer in motion photography, this model aims to generate stunning visuals without relying on unauthorized data. As Mooser puts it, “AI is a powerful tool for the future of Hollywood, but it’s not usable until a clean model is built that’s not trained on other people’s stolen data.”
While some may fear that AI could replace human artists, the reality is more nuanced. AI lacks the consciousness, emotions, and experiences that inform human creativity. Instead, it serves as a tool—one that, when used thoughtfully, can enhance and expand our creative capabilities.
So, whether you're a painter, writer, musician, or designer, consider how AI might inspire your next masterpiece. The fusion of technology and art isn't just a trend; it's a new frontier waiting to be explored.

🎬 AI Meets Oscar Gold: What It Means for Creatives Like You

Big news from the world of cinema: the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has just updated its rules, and guess what? Films that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) are now eligible to win Oscars. 🏆 That's right—AI-assisted movies can take home the gold, as long as human creativity remains at the heart of the production.
🎥 The AI-Enhanced Films Making Waves
Two standout films from this year's awards season have embraced AI in their production processes:
The Brutalist: Adrien Brody's performance as László Tóth was enhanced using AI to fine-tune his Hungarian accent. The filmmakers collaborated with Respeecher, a Ukrainian software company, to blend Brody's voice with that of a native speaker, ensuring authenticity in the Hungarian dialogue.
Emilia Pérez: This musical utilized AI voice-cloning technology to improve the singing voices of its cast, allowing for more polished performances without sacrificing the actors' natural vocal nuances.
These films demonstrate how AI can be a tool to augment human performance, not replace it.
🎭 The Academy's Stance on AI
The Academy's new guidelines clarify that the use of AI in filmmaking "neither helps nor harms" a film's chances of receiving a nomination. However, the emphasis remains on human creative authorship. The Academy will assess the degree to which a human was at the core of the creative process when evaluating films.
This approach acknowledges the evolving landscape of filmmaking while preserving the essence of human creativity.
