🌀 AI Spokesmodel Is a Real Person?
AI Model Training Ethics:
A woman's likeness was used by HeyGen, to train an AI without full transparency.
She was hired to film videos, unaware they'd be used to create an AI avatar.
Here’s a brief overview of the article:
Ariel, a content creator, was approached by Arcads, a French marketing company, for an AI technology campaign that later led to her AI-generated clone going viral. She recorded nine videos which were manipulated to feature her synthesized voice and facial movements. This raised discussions online about the authenticity and implications of AI in media. While Arcads was transparent with Ariel and compensated her, the event sparked widespread debate and highlighted the nuances of digital ethics in content creation.

Our Thoughts
The company was not completely transparent when they recruited her to create several videos where she spoke directly to the camera. Unbeknownst to her, these videos were used to train models and create an avatar that resembled her. Essentially, the marketing agencies are leasing her likeness to produce content for various brands.
There are several issues with this approach.
Transparency: The agency needed to clarify the use of personal likenesses for AI training. 🔍
Open Communication: Transparency with brands about the AI-generated nature of content is critical. 🗣️
Accurate Labeling: Brands must label AI content correctly to avoid customer misconceptions. ✅
Moreover, the brand has a responsibility to its customers to label content accurately, ensuring there is no false belief that the real person has endorsed the product through personal use or testing.
This is what influencers/creators, branding, marketing agencies, and brands should do instead. 💼🤝🔍
In my opinion, a more authentic way to leverage such technology would be to include the influencer in every aspect of the process. The influencer, whose likeness is cloned, should have a say in every piece of content released. She needs to review every video made by her avatar and should personally test the products being endorsed. While she may choose not to film the videos herself, her involvement in product testing and her agreement with the promotional messages are essential. This approach, I believe, is the correct and authentic way to leverage avatar cloning technology.
🤖💼 Reflecting on Ethical AI Use:
It's a reminder of the importance of ethical considerations in our work. Whether we're developing AI technologies or utilizing them in creative projects, a responsible approach that respects individual rights and promotes transparency is essential.
🤸♂️ AI and Wellness Communication
In a rather eye-opening instance, I received an email from my yoga studio’s featuring an AI-rendered image led to a double-take. It brought forth the importance of accurate representation and the potential of AI to augment our perception of wellness activities.
Deep Dive into Creative Integrity
Transparency First: Whether it's a promotional ad or a yoga class email, the clear labeling of AI-generated content is essential to maintain trust with our audience. 🏷️
Ethics in AI: When AI steps into the realms of human likeness and wellness practices, a sensitive and well-informed approach is paramount. 👥
